I Performed a “Mamalogue” at the Momference

One week after Mother’s Day Weekend I hopped on a plane to D.C. and had part two of my Mother’s Day celebration at the Momference.

Founded by Simona Joy Noce Wright & Nikki Osei-Barrett, the momference is the premiere conference for magical, millennial moms of color.

Simona and I have been social media friends for a few years now. I’ve watched her become a wife and mommy, while successfully pursue her goals of entrepreneurship. I knew I had to be apart of the Momference, so I pitched Simona the idea of me performing a monologue. Literally in the middle of me pitching she says “say less, let’s do it”.

I wrote an original piece and performed it in front of 400 Black mamas😱It went well! Slowly, but surely God is giving me confidence in my pen. Stay tuned. Here are a few pictures from the Momference.

We arrived to D.C. a day before the Momference, which allowed a dream of mine to finally come true: I went to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture. Shout out to my #BestieCousin Kenya for being my partner in crime during this entire trip.

Condiments at the museum. Those who know, know.
