Welcome to Day 5 of “21 Days of Summer Writing Challenge”. Today we’re sharing what books we’re burying ourselves in this summer.
I used to be able to start and finish a book within 3 days. But thanks to life, adulthood, bills, marriage, etc., it takes me YEARS to finish one book. Okay, not years but definitely weeks. Welp, along with the many challenges I’ve taken on this summer, I’m challenging myself to read a book per month this summer. Here are my three.
- My Life, My Love, My Legacy by Coretta Scott King. It’s taking me FOREVER to read this book. Why? Coretta tells a lot of stories which are of course historical, so I find myself googling facts every other page. I’m hoping to finish this soon though, because I’m anxious to read the next book on my list.
- HOMEGOING by Yaa Gyasi. I saw this book on Jouelzy’s snapchat and decided to pick it up. I recently saw it Gabrielle Union’s snapchat and heard great things about this beautiful story. I can’t wait to dive in.
- Supernatural Childbirth by Jackie Mize. My friend Cheresa gave me this book last year after I shared with her our burden to conceive. After announcing my pregnancy a plethora of women recommended this book to me and thanks to God’s providence I already had it 🙂
What are you reading this summer and why?
